Sill Rubbers

The Rubber seals/trims in above my sills and shark's fin had shrunk and left unsightly gaps.  In addition by sill are painted black on the lower area and this paint was in pretty bad shape.  Time to take of the sill, replace the rubbers and repaint the sill undersides.  Here is how I did it.

The Sills are permanently held on my plastic nuts along the underside, by the odd undertray nut and wheel arch screw and by a stay attached to the shark's fin.  I ordered a bunch or replacement nuts and screws and two new stays as the originals were pretty rusted.
The Sills and Shark Fins are held on along their top edges by plastic pins that push and clip into retaining holes in the body.  There are a few pins that actually are screw threads that have a nut on the back.  These are at each end of the sill and at the top corner of the sharks fin.
Take the Sharks Fin off first and then pull off the sill from one end.
When I did this I did not realise that some of the prongs were actually screws and thus broke the clip.  See the one on the right .  It still has its nut on and thus broke away from its fixing on the sill.

The prong to its left broke off as well, but this is not a problem and you should buy a few spare male prong clips to cater for this anyway.

Here you can see a prong clip in situ and the fixing where one has pulled off and broken its mounting.  I Araldite'd a replacement in here.
With the sill removed you can see the nine female clip receptacles
My local car spray man cleaned up and painted the black sections with a tough paint for just £40.  A world of difference.  New rubbers slide into a groove in the sills and then you just push the sill back on,  Screw back all the nuts and undertray and wheel arch stuff and you are done.
