I have always been interested in cars and have had several more or less fun standard cars. What really got me interested in performance cars was a track day four years ago at Lotus in Hethel. I went there with a friend of mine and we had a great day with instructors learning us how to use the Lotus Elise to its full extent. The result of this was my friend ordering a new Lotus Elise two years later and since then I’ve been in search for a sports car. Finally I decided it was a 911 I wanted, a 964 or newer. After having bought the car from Riccardo and with his help driving it to Sweden the car is now registered, taxed and insured here.

These days it is fairly easy to bring in a car to Sweden from another EU country. The car went through the Swedish MOT without any comment which was a relief for me. However, the Swedish insurance company would not have the car insured with the Scorpion alarm it was fitted with from the UK so I had to have an alarm fitted which was recommended from the insurance company resulting in an immediate expense of approx £ 350. The only benefit of that is that I don’t have to risk the immobiliser jamming anymore which was the case with the old alarm.

Since then the car has been Zymöled and put away in a garage during the winter months with only a few shorter trips when the roads have been dry and free of snow.
Hopefully we have now had the last snow falling (middle March) and I will have the car in for a service at a nearby Porsche dealer. They will also fit new Bridgestone S02 rear tyres and fix a small but very visible dent (buckle?) on the sunroof.

The plans for the next few months is to attend a drivers course with the Swedish Porsche club and in the Easter my girlfriend and I will travel down to Belgium with it and I certainly look forward to driving on German autobahn without having to worry about speed traps.

I can conclude my first report with me being very pleased with the car so far. It has great looks, feels solid build and the engine is fantastic. I feel however that I need to test the car on a track with an instructor before I push it nearer its limits and this I plan to have done in the near future.
